MY PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE
Luther King
I believe that the most important things in life are self-esteem and respect—Respect which is not only for my self, but, also for the people surrounding me. Why did I say so? Simply because of the fact that these had helped m e carry on in life with letting what other people say to me affect me physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. Realizing that every individual has his own perception about the things he sees, hear, or feels—that each one of us has his own personal view regarding an important person for me, and for someone alike.
Self-esteem is something I feel can carry a man through his life. For me, a person with a high self-esteem is not an easy opponent for in my own opinion; it puts up a shield from all those people trying to pull you down and abuses you without even knowing the real you. I believe that this high self-esteem could help me to stay strong and let negative remarks or “super-opinionated” comments go in one ear and out of the other.
I also believe in Emily Post that “manner is personality—the outward manifestation of one’s innate character and attitude towards life.” Yes, the manner that most people see in you reflects the personality or the innate character you are shaping which leads you to the destiny you have weaved as you go on doing what you know and what you think is right. Be nice and people will throw it back to you. A good manner if not seen together with physique costs nothing, it is considered useless. But using it in socializing with others is “priceless”. It appeals to the environment and the society you are flowing with. Using acceptable and respectful good behavior could definitely lead you to greater maturity having an inch closer to your goal. “Manner will ease your way through the toughest obstacles in life.”
Learning to value friendship—another tenet for me which I believe my grandfather had inculcated in me when he was still alive. His teachings that I should value my friends because aside from my parents and relatives, they are the only ones I would still have when every color in my life turns to gray, was carved to the deepest part of my brain. It was my grandfather who had influenced me and made me realize that material things are replaceable but true friends are hard to win back when it has already been cracked.
Following these philosophies will help me live a happy and successful in life. By not letting other people bring me down, but also at the same time, respecting their decisions in life will have a better understanding of individuals and life in general.
